This piece is about a cherished memory from my childhood when my mother would plait my hair. It captures the tender moments shared between a mother and daughter and how this can sometimes evolve into a more complex and strained relationship in adulthood through the generational shifts in beliefs.
Filipino Ikat weave is depicted beneath the sculpture serve as a symbol of the concept of home and belonging to a line of heritage. Additionally, the iconographic imagery within the piece are about conflicting emotions, reflecting a sense of detachment or not fully belonging.
